Fasciolosis remains as an important disease in sheep and at present there is an increase in its prevalence in many countries. Some of the factors involved in this reemergence are those related to the climate change, increase of irrigated areas and the development of anthelmintic resistances (AR). The chemoprophylaxis is the most commonly used method to control the infection and the inadequate use of drugs favours the development of AR. In order to avoid the spread of resistance is desirable to find new ways to control the infection. As a consequence, we have studied the efficacy - by using FECRT method - of a combination of two drugs in a flock with fasciolosis in which the resistance to albendazole (ABZ) and clorsulon (CLOR) was previously detected. Three trials were carried out. The first one was done to check the efficacy of ABZ, triclabendazole (TCBZ) and CLOR. The results showed that the reduction percentages were -17.60% (ABZ) and 85.20% (CLOR). When the combination of the two drugs was administered jointly with the half of the recommended dose of each, the reduction of the egg excretion was very low, -13.3%, against adult flukes. Nevertheless, when the two drugs were administered at therapeutic doses, the efficacy reached values higher than 98% against both adult and juvenile flukes. This study is the first report describing the possible reversion of the AR in sheep infected with F. hepatica by means of a drug combination.
