Soil and groundwater quality assessment in Taluka Garhi Khairo, district Jacobabad
2009
Babar, J.A.
An attempt was made to evaluate tube well and canal water quality and the soils irrigated by both of these sources, 57 soil samples were collected from three depths (0-15, 15-30 and 30-45 cm). Twenty one water samples were collected from tube wells operating in the study area and 02 water samples from canals were also taken for analysis. Physico-chemical properties of soils shows that all soil samples at 0-15 cm and 95.23% samples at 15-30 and 30-45 cm soil depth were heavy in texture. 57.89, 42.10 and 0.0% soils at 0-15 cm depth, 89.47, 10.52 and 0.0% soil samples at 15-30 cm and 100.0, 0.00 and 0.00% soil samples at 30-45 cm soil depth were low, medium and adequate in organic mater (%) content, respectively. The soil pH ranged from 7.31 to 8.10. 52.63, 31.57 and 15.78% soils at 0-15 cm depth, 68.42, 31.57 and 0.00% soil samples at 15-30 cm and 100.0, 0.00 and 0.00% soils samples at 30-45 cm soil depth were non-saline.
