Sunflower (Helianthus annuus L.) response to foliar fertilization under water stress conditions
2007
Awan, M.I.
Two water stress treatments i.e. non stress and stress and eight treatments of foliar sprays i.e. no spray (control), water, urea @ 0.5%, 1%, 1.5%, 2%. All Natural Ingredients (ANI) and NutriPak were tested as a supplemental source of nutrients to recommended soil-applied NPK (100-60-0 kg per ha). The experiment was laid out in randomized complete block design with split arrangement, replicated three times keeping irrigation treatments in main plots while foliar spray treatments in sub plots. The net plot size measured 4 m x 3 m. The results of the study revealed that water stress significantly reduced stele girth, capitulum's diameter, number of leaves per plant at 80 DAS, LAI, relative water contents, leaf water potential, 1000-achene weight, achene yield, biological yield, harvest index but had a non-significant effect on plant height, total number of leaves per plant, achene oil content and protein content. Maximum achene yield (2442 kg per ha) was recorded in non-stress
