Modeling the growth, radiation use efficiency and yield of cotton as affected by nitrogen rates and cultivars at Multan
2007
Sahbbir, G.
The experiment was consist of two cotton cultivars CIM-496 and NIAB-111 and four nitrogen levels N1 @ 50 kg per ha, N2 @ 100 kg per ha, N3 @ 150 kg per ha and N4 @ 200 kg per ha. The experiment was laid out in split plot design with three replications, having net plot size of 3m x 10 m keeping row to row and plant to plant distance 75 cm and 25 cm, respectively. The results revealed that the cultivars showed significant results with regard to yield components i.e. number of flowers per plant, number of bolls per plant, number of matured bolls per plant, average boll weight, 100-cotton seed weight, biological yield and seed cotton yield. The effect of both cultivars and nitrogen rates on harvest index was no significant. Cultivar CIM-496 gave higher biological yield (25.48 t per ha) over NIAB-111 which gave (19.37 t per ha) and in regard of nitrogen levels biological yield varied from minimum to maximum level i.e. 18.95, 20.11, 22.83, and 27.80 t per ha respectively.
