The unchanging topic of each Poland's Lupin Conference is lupin popularization and research on agronomic practices, breeding and plant protection, biochemistry and physiology, feeding value, animal nutrition, lupin seeds in human diet, etc. The importance of such research has been still growing as the problem of protein deficit for swine and poultry has been greater and greater, and since the act regarding animal feeds which would ban the use of GM soybean meal in animal nutrition is scheduled to come into effect at the beginning of 2012, such animal nutrition will be crucial. Paradoxically, Europe's conservatism and its dislike of GMOs offer a great potential to the native Mediterranean legume species, lupins inclusive
