High producing dairy cow profitability is greatly dependent on fertility and on contrary to great advance in genetics and management, reproductive efficacy has significantly decreased since mid 80ies. Knowing that, we have set a goal to monitor fertility in high producing dairy cows kept in free stall system. In a period of 3 years (2008-2010) we have recorded fertility of cows kept in free stalls. High producing cows of Holstein Friesian breed of were of average 5 years old and kept in one of four stalls. Average milk yield was around 8.000 l per lactation. Fertility did differ between groups in a same time period. This was the case not only due to genetic but as well due to paragenetic factors, nutrition and object itself. Differences were the highest during summer months and hence influence of heat stress should not be neglected. In this farm fertility ranged between 70.74 and 75.00 percents per year with the production of 8.000 l of milk per lactation. These results were influenced by the market (by milk price) as well as inability to invest more and achieve better reproduction and more profitable production on a farm.
