Spacial maps of drought indices are essential for analysis and risk assessment of agricultural droughts in order to improve drought preparedness and help to reduce drought impacts. This paper presents possibilities of application of geostatistical interpolation methods for drought indices mapping. Ordinary Kriging method was used for interpolation of Standard Precipitation Index (SPI) values and maps were created for the territory of Serbia. Values of SPI for principal meteorological stations in Serbia are calculated for vegetation period, that is, for six month period (SPI6) on the basis of monthly precipitation data for period 1971-2009.
