The most dangerous xylophagous insects in furniture in clima - region of Serbia are belonging to the next species: Lyctus linearis Goeze, L. brunneus Steph., Trogoxylon impressus. Ernobius mollis L., Xestobium rufovillosum De Geer, Anobium (Dendrobium) pertinax L., A. punctatum Deer., Ptilinus pectinicornis, Xestobium rufovillosum Degeer, A. (Dendrobium) pertinax L., Hylotrupes bajulus L. and Stromatium fulvum (V and II). Larvas of mentioned insects consume the wood mass producing galleries inside the wood, decreasing its' mechanical properties. From the other side, exit holes on the surfaces of furniture appear as estethical failure and have certain impact on the value of furniture. The fundament of each successfull protection of wooden products or furniture use to be an sound knowledge of bioecological characteristics of pests in order that appropriate measures could be performed in time. In this article the most important facts relating to bioecology of above mentioned xylophagous insects appearing in furniture, as well as the measures for its suppressing, have been presented.
