The subject of the research were the fluctuations in total water content in leaves of Oblacinska sour cherry in Eastern Serbia, which is characterized by a relatively small amount of rainfall and frequent drought periods. It shows the average three-year results (2007-2009). Material for the testing performed is taken from the commercial orchard in the village Planinica near Zajecar (Serbia). At the end of each month during the growing season, from April to October, samples of leaves were taken, in which the total water content was determined by drying at a temperature of 105 deg C to constant weight. The results indicate the high dependence of the total water content in leaves of sour cherry on various factors such as rainfall and air temperature. In all years, the total water content showed a tendency of continuous decrease during the growing season. The highest average water content was early in the season (68.8%) and lowest at the end (53.86%). In the first two years of investigation, the average total water content in leaves of sour cherry was 62.1%, and in the third year it was 58.1%. Differences in total water content between years of study were small.
