The paper emphasizes small percent of afforestation in Vojvodina, revealing new possibilities of increment of afforested area. For the increment of afforestation shalterbelts are proposed. They would protect agricultural soil from wind erosion. According to the projects of shelterbelt establishment, the afforested area would be increased 0.67 - 4.00 % in the examined municipalities. According to the projects the afforested area in the examined municipalities in Srem would be increased by 0.67% or 259.44 ha, in Banat by 2.04% or 8096.27 ha, and in Bačka by 2.20% or 5276.83 ha. According to the projects of Institute for lowland forestry and environment, the afforested area in Vojvodina would be increased by 0,63% by the establishment of shlaterbelts (13632.54 ha related to the total for Vojvodina 2150600.00 ha). In relation to the present afforested area it would be increased by 9.32 %. In coming multiannual period, when all planed shelterbelts would be established, the present percentage of afforested area in Vojvodina (6.80%) would be raised up to 7.43%. By the establishment of shelterbelts, for that there is considerable necessity, the protection of whole agroecosystem would be achieved.
