The research was performed on two farms of Wuerttemberg sheep. The distribution of parasites in sheep as evaluated by native smear coprological technique and by sedimentation and flotation methods, while the degree of infection per sheep was quantitative established upon method by McMaster. Liver function in investigated animals was determined upon the following biochemical panel: total protein, albumin, total billirubine, urea and glucose concentration, and AST activity by commercial Bioanalytica Test kit. The oxidative stress parameters were evaluated upon catalase activity, the red cell membrane damage upon malondialdechide; while carbonyl and thiol plasma protein group concentration was used as indicator of the degree of oxidative modification of proteins, upon spectrophotometric analyses. The activity of Cu, Zn-SOD and LDH (LDH1-LDH5) was determined electrophoretically. Coprology revealed the presence of Strongyloides papillosus in the animal from the first farm of sheep, while Dicrocoelium dendriticum was present in sheep of the second farm. The results obtained indicate that both, S. papillosus and D. dendriticum induce oxidative stress in sheep. The antihelmintic treatment further promotes dysbalance of oxidative-antioxidative metabolism in all tested sheep.
