In the MCN Hs DTD on the territory of Banat region (Serbia) the plant species diagnosed as rare and endangered, and protected by the law are: Acorus calamus, Hippurius vulgaris, Marsiela quadrifolia, Nuphar luteum, Nymphaea alba and Trapa longicarpa. The following Tertiary relics were also recorded: Bolboschoenus maritimus, Butomus umbellatus, Ceratophyllum demersum, Myriophyllum spicatum, Najas marina, Nuphar luteum, Nymphaea alba, Nymphoides flava, Salvinia natans, Schoenoplectus lacustrer, trapa natans, Vallisneria spiralis and Wolffia arrhiza. The adventive hydrophytes also present were: Azolla caroliniana, Azolla filiculoides, Elodea Canadensis, Elodea nuttallii, Vallisneria spiralis, Acorus calamus and Typha laxmannii. Many of them are under intensive dissemination, in the MCN Hs DTD on the territory of Banat region, where build dense stands of aquatic vegetation which gradually become an obstacle for normal functioning of drainage network. Knowledge of the biology and ecology of aquatic plants is the basis for taking the necessary measures to protect and preserve rare and andangered species and representatives of the relict Tertiary flora, for determining the utilization prospects of hydrophytes biomass and for successful planning of aquatic weed control measures, as well as control measures of excessively developed aquatic vegetation in the MCN Hs DTD on the territory of Banat region.
