Preliminary phyto- and hydroenvironmental investigations of the banks and aquatic ecosystem of the Dicina River (Serbia) were conducted during 2010. Forests account for about 30% of the total basin area and are dominated by mixed oak-hornbeam (Carpino betuli-Quercetum frainetto-cerris) communities and a climatogenous community of Hungarian oak and Turkey oak (Quercetum frainetto-cerris) that mix in a fragmentary manner with meadow complexes and complexes of anthropogenic ecosystems. The qualitative analysis of the bottom fauna indicates heterogeneity within communities and presence of oligosaprobic species in the upper course. The ichthyofauna structure of the river confirms barbel and cyprinid dominance in the watercourse and massive presence of Phoxinus phoxinus in the spring habitat.
