A three-year study (2007-2009) on the effects of the grape vine trunk height on the yield and quality of the three vine varieties grown for making white wines was performed. The study on quality and quantity properties of the grapes of three vine varieties for making white wine was carried out in a vineyard of a grape-grower from the village of Trnavac near the town of Zaječar (Serbia). The vine yard is situated in the Zaječar vineyard area, the Knjaževac viniculture sub-region, and the Timok region, while the chemical analyses were performed in the laboratory of the Agricultural and Technological Research Center in Zaječar (Serbia). One of the basic properties of each growing form of the vine trunk is its height. Actually, many forms of trunks of grown grape vine exist due to different heights of grape vine trunks. The vine trunks of different heights show a significant influence on the properties of the grape vine varieties. A special influence is manifested on quality and quantity properties of varieties, such as: yield and quality of the grapes expressed through the content of sugar in must. The grape vine varieties with different heights of trunks (40 cm and 70 cm) were grown for making white wines White Sauvignon, White Burgundy and Župljanka. Regarding the yield of grape of the three investigated varieties, preference should be given to the system of growing grape vine varieties with 70-cm high grape vine trunks. On the other hand, when grape quality is expressed over the sugar content in must, the advantage is given to the system of growing grape vine varieties with 40-cm high grape vine trunks.
