Mechanical characteristics of briquettes made of biomass

The materials utilized for the briquette production are energetic plants as Salix viminalis, Miscanthus sinensis gigantea, Rosa multiflora, Sida Hermaphrodita, Helianthus tuberosus and Spartina pectinata. Their diameter was 50 mm. Then we measured their mechanical characteristics as crushing, density and moisture. Before starting to measure crushing strength, we had to set density of briquettes. Value of density was 0,8 kg/cubic dm. Consequently we tested moisture. Value of moisture was about 9 – 11 %. The briquette was put between round dies of compactor in a vertical position, where it was equally stressed with a raising pressure till it is crush. Better briquettes are made from wood energetic plants.
