Determination of some herbicides residues in onion

Three new herbicide formulations were tested by Daffalla A. Dawoud at Gezira Research Station Farm in season 2007/08 for weed control in transplanted onion. Prowl aqua 455 CS and Pendico 50 EC contain pendimethalin \{N-(1- ethylpropyl) ¡V 2, 6- dinitro ¡V 3, 4 ¡V xylidine) as an active substance. The oral LD50 (male rat) for Pendimethalin is 1250 mg/kg and 1050 mg/kg for female rats (toxicity class III).Oxyfluorfen is the active material in the other formulation, Akofen 24 EC. The chemical name for oxyfluorfen is; 2 ¡V chloro - trifluoro ¡V p ¡V tolyl 3 ¡V ethoxy ¡V 4 ¡V nitrophenyl ether. The acute oral LD50 for rat is 5000 mg/ kg, and the ADI 0.003 mg/kg (toxicity class IV)
