The presented ecological research was carried out in a mountain region of Slovakia. The resilience as well as the resistance of grassland to negative abiotic effects, namely to drought, were investigated on the basis of dry matter (DM) production in above-ground phytomass. It was found that the increasing nitrogen (N) content was enhancing the resistance of different grasslands to drought as well as its resilience when the rainfall deficiency disappeared. The impact of organic fertilisers (slurry) application showed more force on the research parameters than that of inorganic ones. The grassland nutrition using only phosphorus (P) and potassium (K) fertilisers resulted in the highest decrease in production (the lowest resistance) and also a longer period of time was necessary for grassland to recover from the impact of drought (the lowest resilience). Therefore, the nitrogen application mitigates the impact of drought, i.e. it increases the values of resistance and resilience at the nutrition of grassland by P and K fertilisers.
