This work presents data on plants and fungi growing in an undisturbed beech forest stand (stocking density 0.9) situated in the Kremnické vrchy Mts (Central Slovakia). The stand ground layer was rather poor-in-species (12 herbs, 1 grasslike, 2 grasses, 5 tree seedlings). The frequency values of the individual species ranged from 7 to 71 %. The number of herb and grass exemplars per one m2 was 53.3-116.1 in the association Carici pilosae-Fagetum, and 9.9-10.9 in the association Dentario bulbiferae-Fagetum. The mycological inventory made in years 2003-2005 identified rising trends in saprotrophic lignicolous species, mycorrhizal terrestrial symbionts, terrestrial saprotrophic species and an unchanged number of parasitic lignicolous species compared to a survey made in 1994.
