A research on the weed infestation in wheat fields was carried out in the regions of the villages of Sofia region, Pernik, Kyustendil, Southeastern Bulgaria, during the period 2004-2007. Total 16 weed species, belonging to different biological group were distinguished. The most widely distributed annual weeds were the winter-spring weeds – 8 species, followed by the early-spring weeds – 5 species and ephemers – 1 species. Two species of perennial weeds were root-sprout weeds. The research proved a tendency towards increase of the density and the distribution area of the following winter-spring weeds: Alopecurus myosuroides L., Galium tricorne With., Anthemis arvensis L., Sinapis arvensis L., Viola tricolor L. and of the perennial weeds – Cirsium arvense Scop, Convolvulus arvensis L. The survey in Southeastern Bulgaria including Sofia region, Pernik and Kyustendil was part ot the national weed investigation – 2004-2007.
