The investigations were performed in 2005-2006 on 75 doelings and 80 bucklings at the age of 3 to 12 months. All goat kids were from the Bulgarian Dairy breed - BDB and BDB×Toggenburg and BDB×Anglo-Nubian crosses reared in the Institute of Mountain Stockbreeding and Agriculture Troyan and BDB animals reared at the Experimental Farm of the Trakia University – Stara Zagora, as well as BDB×Toggenburg, BDB×Anglo-Nubian and local crosses reared in Bogomilovo, region of Stara Zagora. The phagocytic activity was determined through 2 parameters: phagocytosis percentage – PI - % phagocytosis and phagocytic number PN. During the summer, PI tended to be higher as compared to autumn and winter. There were no statistically significant breed-related differences between phagocytic activity - PA in doelings, but BDB doelings exhibited the highest PA during the summer. There was a tendency towards lower PN in doelings during the summer together with highest PI values. PN were the highest during the autumn. In bucklings, the highest PI was observed during the summer - 82.88 ± 1.214%, аnd the lowest – during the autumn - 77.78 ± 1.163%. BDB bucklings exhibited the highest PI values, except for the winter season. In one-year-old bucklings, spring PN values were the highest - 1.444 ± 0.041.
