The development of occurring genetic effects and abnormalities in California rabbits product of narrow inbreeding /Fх = 0.5/ were followed out. As a result, hairless bunnies with congenitally impaired hair growth – Hypotrichosis congenita – were born. The observed negative effects resulted from increased homozygosis, which on its part creates conditions for the appearance of recessive mutations and inbreeding depression.
