In the conditions of the Republic of Belarus in 2009-2010 there were studied reactions of buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum) varieties differed by morph type to the presence of weeds in crops. The research was realized in Smolevichi district of Minsk region on sod-podzolic light loamy soil. The agrochemical indicators of arable horizon were: humus content – 1.9 – 2.1%, pHKCl – 5.9-6.5, content of P2O5 – 290 - 330 mg/kg, K2O – 250 – 310 mg/kg of soil. As a result of realized research it was revealed that at the crop cultivation without conducting of weed control measures a grain yield of the varieties Vlada, Ametist, Karmen, Sapfir and Anita Belorusskaya, which differing in morph type, competitiveness, and sensitivity to weeds, was decreased on average during the study period by 21,4; 32.5; 35.5 48.5 and 102.3%, respectively. Due to the fact that in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus semi fallow soil cultivation and harrowing оf buckwheat crops provided grain yield increase in the range of 13.2-22.2 and 5.0-10.5%, in order to fully realize the potentialities of buckwheat, improvement of chemical weed control measures taking into account biological and varietal characteristics of this crop, as well as sanitary and hygienic requirements was of great importance.
