For the first time in the conditions of the Republic of Belarus there presented study results of a number of herbicides and their tank mixtures in milk thistle (Silybum marianum) seedlings including their pre-emergence application of herbicides of soil action, as well as application of herbicides against cereal weeds in period of milk thistle vegetation. Their efficiency and phytotoxicity estimation for the crop is done. There was analysed efficiency of herbicides of soil action in milk thistle seedlings against corn mayweed (Matricaria inodora), lamb's-quarters (Chenopodium album), winterweed (Stellaria media), shepherd's-purse (Capsella bursa-pastoris), cleavers (Gallum aparine). According to the results the herbicides gezagard, CS (prometrin, 700 g/l) at the rate 1,5-2,0 l/ha, stomp, 33% EC (pendimetalin) at the rate 3,0 l/ha, target super, EC (khizalofop-P-ethyl) at the rate 1,0-2,0 l/ha are recommended for a wide production application. In the recommended doses of application the mentioned above herbicides provided high biological efficiency (lowering of mass of annual dicotyledonous weed plants and cereal weeds up to 98,0%) and provided preservation up to 3,3 center/ha of crop seeds yield.
