Within the framework of a study conducted by the Swiss College of Agriculture, the types of cooperation currently in existence in the Swiss forestry industry together with the factors favorably influencing their establishment were examined. It was ascertained that a wide variety of cooperation types exist in terms of the depth of cooperation, the choice of legal structure and the number of participating partners. No best model could be determined; it was rather clear that successful cooperation depends on the existing situation and its key players. Some cooperation types have been selected and are presented in the form of practical advice.
