Determinants of domestic demand for some of the main Egyptian vegetables in Al-abour market, Cairo Governorate

. The results of the study First, domestic demand for some vegetable crops appeared negative statistical relationship between the quantity and the price of each type of vegetable under consideration, and the results of the domestic seasonal demand explain that the demand function of the summer tomatoes and onions are the dominant influence in the form of the relationship between the quantity and the price of those vegetables throughout the year. While, the winter demand function is more dominant in the form of the relationship between the quantity required and the price of potatoes. Second, Effect of change in the prices of some of the alternatives and supplements of other vegetables on weekly demand for vegetables under study: the demand for tomatoes affected more rise in the price of potatoes for tide price decrease, and similarly for the change in the price of onions, but the demand function was affected by the high price of tomatoes, onion affected than the high price of potatoes. While the demand for potatoes was affected by greater rise in the price of tomatoes from the price decrease, and similarly for the change in the price of onions, but the demand function affected the price of onions, potatoes, up more than affected by the high price of tomatoes. As well as the demand for onions affected more rise in the price of tomatoes or potatoes for the decline rate of one and the same change in prices for almost a required amount of onions. Third, Estimation of price and cross demand elasticsties in Al-abour market it takes all the negative signals. That that means the three vegetables are necessary for consumers, as the demand for inelastic with the Note that the demand for tomatoes, onions, summer are more flexibility as compared to winter, and on the contrary, the demand for potatoes is more flexible for winter compared with the summer. Also supported the results of cross elasticities calculated with an emphasis on the existence of complementary relationships between each of the potatoes, tomatoes, onions and supported by the positive signals of cross elastisities.
