Clopyralid from two different manufacturers ( Lontrel 300 SL from Dow and Watch 30% SL from Bisterfield) were tested for comparison and their effect on canola and sensitive weeds with various dosages. The experiments were carried out in Fars and Khuzestan provinces, Iran. The trial was randomized complete block design with 4 replications and 12 treatments which included Lontrel and Watch each with 0.6,0.8,1,1.2 and1.4 L/ha post emergence, Butisan Star ( metazachlor 33%+quinmerac 8.8%) at 2.5L/ha pre emergence and weedy check. All plots contained their own weedy check and were sprayed with 0.75 L/ha haloxyfop-Rmethyl ester (Super Galant 10.8% EC) for the control of grass weeds. Results indicated that both clopyralid versions were similar in their effects on canola at different dosages and that no damage was observed up to 1 L/ha. Dosages of 0.8 and 1 L/ha were recommended for both clopyralid versions to control sensitive broad leaf weeds in canola fields. Although Watch acted slightly weaker than Lontrel in Khuzestan, nevertheless it was advised to become registered as an alternative to the already registered Lontrel. Butisan Star controlled sensitive weeds to clopyralid slightly weaker than clopyralid, nonetheless it was recommended not to use clopyralid where Butisan Star has already been applied.
