This project was executed to determination nutritive value of grape pulp and effects of ensilage on pulp chemical digestibility and degradability also usage of pulp silage as feedstuffs. Grape pulps (separately white and red variety) were bought from 4 major juice factories ( Azarkam,Sansan shahd, Saroneh and Tatao) among 12 juice factories, then carried to Saatlo research station and ensiled. Samples were collected at the end of 1st , 2nd, 3rd and fourth months for chemical analysis (DM, organic matter, crude protein, crude fiber, NDF, crude fat, NFE, pH, total phenol content and tannin ). Three fistulaeted Azerbaijanian buffalo steers were selected for digestibility and with nylon bag experiment in Saatlo station of west Azerbaijan agriculture and natural resource center. Degradablility of feedstuffs were determined with In vitro method. After initial results of ensilage in plastic jars, ten ton white grape pulp were ensiled separately. Twenty four Holstein male calves with 220kg mean live weight randomly allocated in four groups (control, 20%, 40% and 60% replacement of grape pulp silage with alfalfa). Animals were fed individually and ad lib for 4 months. Results showed that total tannin and total phenol of ensiled grape pulp (EGP) significantly (p0.05) lower than dry grape pulp (DGP). Dry matter digestibility, organic matter and organic matter digestibility of EGP were significantly lower than DGP (p0.05). Differences of initial and final weight ,average daily gain in overall and between months, overall feed consumption and feed conversation ratio between treatments were not significant (p0.05) but differences of feed consumption between months and overall fed conversation ratio between treatments were significant (p0.05). In conclusion drying and ensilaging were effective and suitable methods for conservation of grape pulp, also these methods are cheaper and practical for decreasing of tannin and other phenol composition also EGP can be used in male calves ration up to 40percent of forage content of diet.
