Hybridization of varieties and lines for genetic variation in Barley
2003
Mohammadi, Reza | Bahrami, Nozar
Varietal hybridization is a way for creating and genetic variability crop plants. In this investigation, several nurseries were evaluated. The genetic materials used in the present study included-international- barley-crossing block(IBCB, national barley crossing block (NBCB), Fl and barley segregating populations F4, F5 and F6 with 149, 32, 54,42,13 and 50 lineslvarieties, respectively. Evaluation of the materials international barley crossing block indicated the presence of variability under stressed codition. In the national crossing block nurseries, 57 crosses were made and the hybrid seed were obtained. The barley F4 population were handeled in two ways, single head selection and the bulk. In F5 population the best families were selected based on phenotipic charactristics and uniformity of each family. In F6 generation selected based on phenotypic charactristics, thousand kernel wieght, and grain yield. The selected entries will be further evaluated in preliminary barley yield trial at Sararood and other stations of DARI.
