Economical comparison of rape seed with competitive crops in Hamedan province

A Considerable amount of national resources is spent annually on importing cooking oil. About 900/0 of the total oil supply is imported. In recent years, the State has been planning and implementing cultivation programs in order to revere this trend. The forth national five years development plan stipulates that the domestic production of edible oil should increase from 100/0 to 500/0 of the total national demand. The present study examined the farmers attitude toward vape seed cultivation. The statistical population of the study was consisted of all the farmers who had cultivated rape seed in Hamedan province over the last two years. There were 540 farmers in the statistical population of this study, and 132 of them were selected as samples through a complete randomization technique. A questionnaire was designed to gather the required data. The findings of the study indicated that the results of the study show that the benefit - cost ratio of rape seed cultivation is 3.06 on the average. Of course this indicator differed in different towns, so that the highest (5.6) was observed in Bahar and the least (0.76) in Asad Abad. In the province the rape seed cultivation is after wheat and before barley considering the beneficiancy, in comparison with competitor products.
