This study was conducted for estimation genetic variance component and evaluation of general and specific combining ability of 16 sunflower hybrids and their respected parents as a Line X Tester mating design in 2 separate drought stress and normal experiment as randomized blocks with 3 replications in Khoy agricultural and natural resources research station in 2009. Additive variances were greater than dominance variance for oil content, 1000 seed weight, flowering period, growth period in normal experiment and for oil content, flowering period, growth period , stem girth, plant height and seed filling period in normal experiment. R26 and CMS52 had the highest GCA. R46 x CMS222 and R56 x CMS 344 in normal experiment and R19 x CMS344 and R56 x CMS 344 in stress experiment had the highest SCA. R26 x CMS52, R46 x CMS52 and R56 x CMS52 had significant hetrosis for seed and oil yield.
