In this experiment mineralogy of Bentonite clays from 50 mines in different parts of Iran were investigated. Geological parameters and mineralogical characteristics of Bentonite from these mines were recorded. In order to study the effects dietary Bentonite in broilers diet on performance, hepatic enzymes activities and serum albumin broilers, another experiment were conducted. In this study 240 day old male broiler chicks (Ross Strain) were used in completely randomized design with 3 treatments and 4 replicates of 20 birds each for 42 days. Experimental diets were prepared with 0, 1,5 and 3 percent bentonite. Mineralogy advantages showed that the main minerals Bentonite are Montmorilonite and accompanying mineral are differed. The kind of Montmorilonitein desert zones (Semnan and khorasan) are sodic and in Dmavand and Zanjan zone are Potasic. The results of second experiment showed that 1,5 and 3 % Bentonite in starter diets increased feed intake, weight gain and improved feed conversion ratio significantly (P 0,05). There were not significant differences between treatments in grower and finisher period. Also there were not significant differences between treatments in Alkaline Phosphatase, Gamma Glutamine Transferase activities, liver and mortality percentage and blood serum albumin. This feed additive may be useful for health and improvement of broiler performance.
