The aim of the present research was to assess the diversity of semi-natural grasslands in the Gauja National Park and to analyse vegetation changes since 1998. In total, 100 releves were collected in 29 sites scattered over the whole territory of the Park. Classification and ordination results indicate that vegetation diversity of semi-natural grasslands has decreased in 10 year period but mean Ellenberg indicator values indicate no changes in environment factors. Overgrowing of dry grasslands has decreased because there were more managed grasslands in 20099 than in 1998. Distribution of dry grassland Filipendula vulgaris-Helictotrichon pratense plant communities has decreased but plant communities with Poa angustifolia dominance have increased. It can be explained by the influence of mulching and abandonment.
