The difference between the different varieties of flax was insignificant until recently. New varieties of flax with different morphological features have been created now thanks to the purposeful breeding work. Such features in flax are the colour of petals and anthers, the form of the flower, colour of seeds, etc. These features are present in varieties 'T11-13/3-1-94', 'T11-6/2-15-9'; variety 'Altgauzen 5 * 30' differs from other marker features by light blue petals, dark brown seed color, and other features. The flax variety 'Vietējais baltziedainais N580' has white petals and light brown seeds. These features can help identifying plants belonging to a certain sort of flax in the early stages of development that makes it possible to carry out the cleaning of the same way variety at an earlier date.
