In an experiment on the effects of number of eyes in a cut seed piece and plant spacing on the yield of potato cv. Cardinal it was found that there was no significant difference in yield due to difference in the number of eyes in a cut seed piece. Yield of potato tuber per plant increased with the increase in plant spacing; but yield per unit area did not differ significantly due to difference in plant spacing. Highest yield of tuber (30 t/ha) was obtained from the cut seed piece containing 3 eyes planted at a spacing of 60 cmx25 cm. The yield per unit area was significantly higher in the plants having 3 or 4 stems than in the plants having 1 or 2 stems.
