Investigations were conducted on 14 self-incompatible parent strains and 182 F1 hybrids of Brussels sprouts produced by crossing according to full diallel scheme. It has been found that productivity is checked by polygenic scheme. Strains vary greatly in additive and dominant effects of polygenes. In checking the character, superdomination and complementary epistasis are also of great importance, which provides high heterosic effect of hybrids. Variation in strains by general combinative ability is due to additive and averaged dominant effect of polygenes, while variation by specific combinative ability, along with superdomination and complementary epistasis, is also due to asymmetry in distribution of dominant polygenes between the strains. There is maximum heterosis with successful combination of high specific combinative ability with high general combinative ability of one or both parent strains.
