Precision of measurement of the coarse edge in wool fibre diameter distribution.

When calibration procedures are carefully controlled, the precision of measurement of the coarse edge can be determined by the Binomial (or approximately Poisson) statistics. For this reason the observed standard deviation on repeated measurement of coarse edge is approximately equal to the square root of the number of counts measured in the coarse edge.
