Study was performed in 1996-1998. A herd of 96 Holstein-Friesian was assayed. The animals were imported from France as pregnant heifers. The analysis involved some basic indices which determined the course of adapting to new environmental conditions. Milk yield in two consective 305-day lactation periods were studied, with the reference to calving season. The cows calving in autumn and winter produced more milk. A high increase in the milk yield of second lactating cows, with the proportions of milk constituents maintained on the desired level, proved that the animals had adapted to the new environment.
