The importance of an adequate calcium content in cows' blood as well as the consequences of its decrease in the post-calving period are discussed. The post-calving diseases caused by calcium deficiency are described, the measures to be taken for their prevention are explained. Three theories of cows' feeding in the aspects of physiology and metabolism are analysed.
