The law is still far from considering the river as an ecosystem. Schematization, which may be considered as possibly excessive - would lead to the assertion that in the present legal situation, the river is divided into administrative sections and submitted to individual and unrelated rules and regulations. This observation is based on the fact that a river is perceived as a form of infrastructure with, notably, economic functions which do not take the environmental aspect into consideration. A general legal approach does not exist for river ecosystems. The law, as such, is perfectly able to incorporate this approach but, in this context, the existing law needs to be fully revised.
