Study on the feeding habit of Rasbora lateristriata and Puntius binotatus in two streams, Citamanjaya and Cibinua on the vicinity of Ujung Kulon National Park has been carried out during the dry and rainy seasons between 1983 - 1984. The results show that on the rainy season, insect has the highest index of preponderance, plant materials and detritus are the food groups that were always present on the gut. The percentage of the last two groups are higher during the dry season for R. lateristriata. Insect and plant materials were found in large quantities in the gut of R. lasteristriata from the upper segments of Citamanjaya, but in downstream segments it mostly consisted of waters of human food materials. This pattern was not clearly found in Cibinua. The two fish species seem to have the similar food resources with R. lasteristriata tending to feed on insect in higher quantities and P. binotatus depends on plant materials and detritus. The suspected mechanisms of food partitioning in relation to exclusive competition are briefly discussed.
