Investigations were carried out in natural conditions of Mionica and Suvobor (Yugoslavia). Several maize hybrids of FAO maturity groups, from 100 to 700 were used. In the investigated period (1987-1988) the mortality rate of maize borer caterpillars was not present in a high percentage. Parasites of maize borer caterpillars were the dominant factor in the reduction of population density of this pest. The following three species of caterpillar parasites were involved in the parasitization of maize borer: Lydella thompsoni (Diptera: Tachinidae), Campoplex alkae (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae) and Diadegma terebrans (Hymenoptera: Ichneumonidae).
