The influence of nitrogen fertilizers on winter wheat yields and chemical composition of grain is discussed. Experiments on nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content in winter wheat grain carried out on the fields of LUA faculty of Agriculture in the period of 1987-1993 are described. Nitrogen fertilizers in the form of ammonium nitrate were applied three times a year - in autumn before sowing, in spring at the beginning of the growing period, in late spring at the tillering stage. As the result of the experiment the chemical composition of wheat grain as well as the changes in the grain yield and in the composition of nutritional elements were analysed and are discussed.
