Relationship between the occurrence of small brown planthopper, Laodelphax striatellus (Fallen) (Homoptera: Delphacidae) and barley maturity.

Number of small brown planthoppers, Laodelphax striatellus (F.) negatively correlated with the mean temperature of March in Korea. The low temperature of March delayed the barley grown, heading date, and maturity. Thereby, the small brown planthopper was given a good opportunity to feed on barley, and occurrred abundantly in 1984. In addition, it was possible to predict the occurence of small brown planthopper by quadratic equations.
