Evaluation of low glucosinolate rapeseed in digestibility and feeding experiments with growing - finishing pigs.

Kracht W. | Jeroch H. | Matzke W.
In digestibility (D) experiments with pigs the influence of different grinding and thermal-treatment methods was studied. The following D of organic matter were found: not ground 21 %, ground mixed with barley 76 %, roller mill-coarse 65 % - fine 78 %, flaked 78 %. The thermal treatments did not improve D. In two feeding trials the influence of different rapeseed levels on feed intake, daily gain and fatty acid content of carcass fat were examined. Feed intake and daily gains were depressed. By hydrothermal treatment the depression was avoided. The limit for polyunsaturated fatty acid content in backfat (15 %) was reached when 8 % rapeseed was included in the feed mixture.
