The aim of the research was to establish main effects on tobacco smoke by adding molasses and glucose syrups with different dextrose equivalent to tobacco. The results have shown that TPM production increases, in some way, for all cigarettes with no regard to tobacco type. Equilibrium moisture content is also increasing, in different rates depending on tobacco type. The use of molasses results in greater TPM and equilibrium moisture content values but in lower nicotine content in smoke. Also the better taste of smoke, especially in quality, was observed. So, the results indicates that use of molasses and glucose syrups with lower DE, as the components of casing additives, is possible and advisable. We can recommend low use of molasses up to 25 of tobacco weight and the use of glucose syrups with DE up to 42.
