Performance of promising lines/accessions of peanut in the major growing areas in the Philippines.
1986
Santos R.B. | Pascua A.C.
The preliminary yield trial (PYT) is the first yield test of promising peanut cultivars. The entries included in this test came from ICRISAT [International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics], India and IPB [Institute of Plant Breeding], Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines. Highly significant variation on pod yield was observed among the 37 entries tested. Pod yield ranged from 0.37 to 3.33 t/ha. Almost 30 percent of the entries produced pod yield of 2.0 to 3.33 t/ha. Sixty one percent gave pod yield of more than 1 t/ha and eleven percent gave pod yield of less than 1 t/ha. Some other parameters gathered were number of pods per plant, length of pods, number of seeds per pod and weight of 100 seeds.
