The examination of numerous state farms in SAP Kosovo (Yugoslavia) during the 1979 and 1980 harvests revealed that the amount of straw of highly productive cultivar of wheat ranges from 42,90 to 59,00 dt/ha. The loss of straw resulting from high cutting is considerable and ranged from 19,60 to 24,00 dt/ha. Moisture content in straw during the combining was from 24 to 25,10%. After one day of drying the moisture content decreased to 17 to 19% whereas with the straw which was drying in the field for several days the moisture content ranged from 8,79 to 9,42%. High pressure bailing presses for standard bales "Claas Dominant" and "Claas Markant" have given satisfactory results. In the first experiment when the conditions were almost optimal, the net achievement was 4,2 to 4,6 t/ha. The weight of the bales made by the high pressure baling presses is 4,5 to 11 kg. Unloading and stacking of standard bales is done mainly manually. Straw bulking on experimental state farms is seldom to be found. Cylindrical bales are very convenient for a mechanized loading, transportation and storage.
