A study on the dominance of dwarf type on F1 hybrids of Arabica coffee (Coffea arabica L.) has been conducted at the Kalisat/Jampit Estate, Ijen Plateau, East Java. The study was done over one year old bushes consisting of five parentals and six F1-hybrids. These parentals were Caturra red, Caturra yellow, 1-Jember, S 795 and S 1934. Caturra Red and Caturra yellow were to be the sources of dwarf type. Some agronomic characters were observed as the parameter of dwarfness namely length of internode, length of primary branch, plant height, stem diameter and number of primary branch. Semi-dwarf F1 hybrids were found from the crossings of dwarf type (Caturra Red and Caturra Yellow). The semi-dwarf hybrids have characteristics of greater stem, shorter internodes and longer primary branches than their mid-parents. Short internode of dwarf type Caturra Red and Caturra Yellow, were dominant (incomplete) to long internode of tall 1-Jember, S 795 and S 1934.
