Resistance of cotton leafworm, Spodoptera littoralis (Boisd) populations, from different governorates of Egypt, to some insecticides.

El Sayed E.I. | Abdallah E.F.
The resistance levels of the cotton leafworm Spodoptera littoralis populations, collected from different governorates of Egypt, against several organophosphorus pyrethroids and carbamate insecticides were laboratory investigated. Among the compounds tested, the three OP-insecticides namely, Phosfolan, methamidophos and Chlorpyrifos, are still promising against most of the insect populations tested. Great variation in resistance was reported (4.1 to 47.7 folds) among pyrethroids tested. However, most of the collected populations were susceptible to this class of compounds. Unlike methomyl, and the other carbamate insecticide, thiodicarb failed to give satisfactory results on the cotton leafworm.
