Rooting of stem cutting of juvenile in some forest species.
1980
Rashid M.H. | Rahman A.H.M.M.
Vegetative propagation trials by stem cuttings of one year old seedlings were initiated to test the conditions developed inside polythene propagators using dhakijam (Syzygium grande wall.), mahogany sp (Swietenia marcophylla, King) and (Swietenia mahagoni Linn.), Sil Koroi (Albizzia procera, Benth.) and teak (Tectona grandis, Linn.). One node, two nodes and four nodes cuttings were set, some with leaves and others without leaves. Better rootings were observed in leafy cuttings. For teak a comparison was made using cuttings from 20 year old trees and one year seedlings. Younger materials showed higher rooting ability than the adult materials under similar conditions.
